There’s already a Change.org petition against the passing of Amendment One, which banned same-sex marriage, civil unions, and domestic partnerships in North Carolina. These things actually tend to be pretty damn effective.

Let’s see what the power of Tumblr can do! I know there’s at least a million Tumblr users who are against this sort of harmful discrimination and bigotry.

Sign the petition and reblog to spread the word, please!

Feb 29, 2012: Lawmakers in Russia just passed a draconian censorship law that would impose stiff fines for anything construed as “the promotion of homosexuality” in Saint Petersburg, Russia’s second largest city. Reading, writing, speaking or reporting on anything related to gay, lesbian bi or trans (LGBT) people would become a criminal act. This ban on “promotion” would also target Pride parades, literature, theater, or NGOs that openly serve LGBT people.

All Out, a community of almost a million people around the world fighting for full equality, made a little video to send the Governor a message. Pass this law - We Won’t Go There.

Question by hopeharts:

Could you endorse this on your blog? It’s a petition to get my college to recognize LGBTQ support groups and make the campus an accepting environment. I’m one of the few gay guys on campus who is out because of the amount of homophobia here. We’re starting to get some REALLY big publicity so we need as many signatures as possible. It only takes a few seconds to sign! ==> change.org/petitions/president-hope-college-amend-the-official-statement-on-human-sexuality-to-recognize-lgbtq-groups
I am so proud of you, and happy to see you are doing this. I would be happy to share this and help you as much as I can.
Let’s sign this petition and help beat homophobia in Hope College!

A Message From Polina in St Petersburg - AllOut.org

I have just received this e-mail from AllOut, as an update on what is going on in Russia:

In just 48 hours, over 170,000 people have signed on to push world leaders to condemn a horrifying new Russian law that will make it illegal to speak publicly about being gay, lesbian, bi, or transgender. Thank you so much for your incredible support, we couldn’t have gotten here without you.

Our friends in St. Petersburg just told us about a protest they held in front of City Council this morning — and about being followed and dispersed by police. But we won’t back down, and Russia has taken notice: a vote on the law has been postponed until next week, November 30th.

This is a minor victory, but the fight is hardly over. There is a very real chance that this bill might pass, so we only have a small window to mount even more global pressure on Russian authorities to drop it. Here’s a video report from Polina, straight from St. Petersburg. Will you share her message to ask friends and family from all over the world to sign with you?

Share here: www.allout.org/russia_silenced/taf
Thanks again for going All Out for Russia.

Guys, please keep on signing this petition and keep on sharing this so that as many people as possible can hear and learn about this and sign this petition, too. Remember, we need to move all together during those times and do our best.
